Our founder, Mr. Prashant Mehta has had experience practicing on several litigation matters on the Original, Appellate and Writ Jurisdiction of all Courts/Tribunals in India and abroad, for over a decade. He has represented major clients in both domestic and international arbitrations and has also had the opportunity of working with top Indian Law Firms.

After running an office of his own with several lawyers associated with him on full time and part time basis, in 2017, Prashant envisioned the need to institute Mehta Law Offices.

Mohan Lal Mehta

Hon'ble Mr. Justice M.L. Mehta (Retd.) guides and facilitates the team at MLO. He is a veteran in the field of lawwho has served the bench and otherwise for over four decades and is continuing to do so. He is one of nation’s preeminent arbitrators and mediators for complex civil, commercial, family disputes, multi-party and high stake cases.

During his long career in judiciary both as a High Court judge and also as a judge at district courts in Delhi he has delivered thousands of judgments and many of which have been landmark pronouncements.

He is an eminent jurist with a deep understanding of Alternative Dispute Resolution system which according to him should be called as Appropriate Dispute Resolution. He was the first Asian to be selected for International Fellowship on ADR in 2009 and first fellow of JAMS foundation and was awarded the Certificate of outstanding International Commercial Dispute Resolver. During his tenure as Pr. Secretary (Law, Justice & Legislature Affairs) in the Govt. of NCT of Delhi he introduced a new Department of ADR in the Law and Justice Department in November, 2009 and institutionalised the mechanism of Alternate Dispute Resolution in the Government as a joint venture between the Delhi Government and High Court of Delhi for this he established the Delhi Dispute Resolution Society, an autonomous registered government society within the Law and Justice Department of the Government and under it he created nine Mediation Centres to cover the vastness of Delhi. The range of these Mediation Centres being one in slums at NandNagri and the other being in TDSAT in a Five-Star Hotel.

Post retirement, Justice Mehta is actively engaged in the practice of arbitration, mediation and consultancy.He has served as sole arbitrator, presiding arbitrator, courts appointed arbitrator, party-appointed arbitrator and member of International Centre of Arbitration of High Court, New Delhi. He has served as an arbitrator in a wide variety of arbitrations involving investments, trade, construction, oil and gas, banking, corporate, distributorship, franchising, licensing and general commercial matters and also mediated high stake disputes by and against the departments of the government.

Prashant Mehta

Mr. Prashant Mehta started his career in 2006 with a leading Indian law firm where he represented and advised various Government Departments, Public Sector Companies and Multiv national Companies on issues involving Arbitration Laws, Land Laws, Administrative Law, Banking Law, Constitutional Law, Mining Law, Electricity Law, Criminal Laws & Corporate Laws and represented the clients before various Courts in India and abroad.

A legal spearhead since his early education days, Mr. Prashant has been awarded the Cambridge Commonwealth Scholarship for pursuing law degree at Cambridge University, United Kingdom, the Sanwa bank Scholarship for excellent academic pursuits in St. Stephen’s College, a Scholarship by Craigmore Foundation, New Delhi for pursuing law at Cambridge, the Hughes Hall Commonwealth Scholarship by Cambridge University, UK and the Commonwealth Society scholarship for assisting in the drafting of the Bill on ‘Child Abuse in India’.

Prashant has worked in a wide array of legal sectors and has advised clients on various issues of all Corporate and Commercial matters, Constitution law matters, Administrative law matters, Arbitration matters and Infrastructure and Real Estate law matters.

He has also worked extensively on joint venture agreements, collaboration agreements, technology transfer agreements, aircraft manufacturer disputes and real estate disputes. He has advised clients in setting up various road, railway, metro and power projects in India. He has also represented various government entities before the Delhi High Court.
